7 minutes Double Half Snatch – 12 kg Kettlebells

I was tempted to stick to the training plan, which called for 5 x 1 minute sets followed by a 1 minute rest, but was also confident I could do 5 minutes unbroken. (Secretly, just between us, I was hoping to somehow be able to pull it out of the bag and complete the full 10.)

Alas, it was not to be…

…and, in the end, I managed to eke it out to 7 minutes. At that point, my fingers were going tingly and I didn’t want to go and do something that I’d later regret.

Notes:

I really started to feel it at the 4 minute mark. It’s only a 2 kg increase from the 10’s, but that’s still 20%. As you’ll see in the video, I don’t normally do the knee dip on the acceleration phase as it’s not something I really feel comfortable/natural with. However, I do normally do the knee dip to absorb the drop from the overhead fixation. At the 4 minute point, tho’, I even stopped doing that as it took extra effort that I knew I’d want/need later on.

So, 2 x 12 kg bells, 10 rpm for 7 minutes = 70 reps.

Not great, but I’m going for time first, i.e., complete the 10 minutes, and will then increase the reps thereafter.

Personal Best

Though I feel a little disappointed that I didn’t finish the full 10, a 7 minute set is still a personal best for me. That’s my next goal for which I’ll try in a couple of weeks.

According to the training plan, which I’m going to stick to hereon, the 10 minute test is in a couple of weeks.

Onwards and upwards
