Training Log

Luxury!

Two sessions today.

The first was primarily because of 2 reasons.

First, we’re on a long holiday in Thailand because of the King’s birthday and several important Buddhist festivals.

I now have a second phone, which means I can finally train and record sessions properly.

(And by properly, I mean I can play music, see my interval times, AND record video all at the same time. As the old Monty Python 4 Yorkshiremen sketch said, “Luxury!”)

Got to admit, my back was a little achy this morning, but I know my 10-minute rope flow is really going to help.

I won’t say rope flow’s been a game-changer, because it hasn’t. But without the rope there’s no way I’d be standing in the garden swaying my hips around and looking like a matelot on his first night ashore after three months at sea!

However, the rope does give it that semblance of legality, so there you go.

I did try and practice some underhand and overhand sneaks yesterday, so I wouldn’t look quite as amateur as I think I look. But that was to no avail as I couldn’t see how to weave them into this morning’s session.

It’ll come, at some point.

The rest of the morning session was some double steel club work (2kg and 4 kg), and some double kettlebell cleans (16 kg).

I haven’t picked those bad boys up for a while, and I can only hope that one day they’ll feel lighter.

When I watch kettlebell athletes wielding double 24 kg’s and above, I’m in awe. (That’s serious awe, by the way, and not awe as in ‘Mmmm, that sandwich was awesome’.)

One day, I hope.

In the meantime, it is 1 day and/or 1 session at a time.

Afternoon/evening session

After that, the day got progressively worse as I was trying to sort my website out but to no avail. Another day wasted.

So much so that I was getting a little annoyed and devided to blow off some of the steam with another kettlebell session.

Secretly, I was aiming for the full 10 minutes, but was really feeling the weight in the rack position from minute 5. As such, I decided the best course of action was to cap it at 7 minutes.

That’s not too bad, as it does put me 1 week ahead of my training plan.

I’m also pretty sure that had I not done the morning session, I could’ve completed the full 10.

But that’s the point. There’ll be another session but seven minutes was enough for this one.

The evening session:

Definitely a rest day tomorrow.
