Crappy Day Yesterday, But Better Today
I think yesterday was crappy because of the chicken in my red Chicken curry! Without going into details, thank heavens I was at home!
In such cases, and as is the way, you just hope it’s all blown over in the morning when you wake up, and…
…fortunately it was.
My Garmin ‘Body Battery’ score was 95, which is the highest ever (in over a year), and my Sleep Score 91, showing I guess how well I slept last night. I woke up at my usual 0430 time, but decided to rest and see how I felt.

Anyhow, after a simple lunch of some MaMa noodles with some chopped cabbage, 2 duck eggs, and some chilli flakes (this is Thailand, after all), I felt much better.
A 15-minute walk, followed by 10 minutes with the 5 kg gada. I started off at 1 rep every 2 beats (@50 BPM) and changed hands every minute, but after 4 minutes knew I had to slow it down some. I then switched to 1 rep every 3 beats.
Somewhere along the line, I was so caught up in the flow that I missed the hand switch (plus the post-midday 30 degree C sun was overhead and it was really difficult to see the timer), but I finished the 10, which seeing how I was yesterday I’m more than happy with.
Upgrading the Heavy Bag
If you’ve seen any of my recent heavy bag sessions, you’ll have seen how the weight in the bag has settled and compressed some.
My wife said she’d bring some old clothes from her mother’s house so I packed just over 15 kg of sand into 3 bags and added weight and padding so it’s full again. If I recall, the bag weighed about 80-90 lbs, so it must be a solid 120-130 lbs now, which is good.

Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the loose nuts on my chain block bolts, and it decided to part ways halfway up.
With the block under load, it was back to the tried and trusted Bear Hug method to hoist the bag onto one of our recycling bins so I could unhook the block and re-hook it to the carabiner. (Plan B most definitely.)
Thankfully, I had a spare nut so I was able repair the block set.
